Indoor seating only. No reservation needed. Nostalgic decorations with intimate vibes resembling those of an izakaya. Menu features a pretty extensive variety of Taiwanese dishes including ground pork over rice 滷肉飯, deep fried popcorn chicken 鹽酥雞, braised beef noodle soup 紅燒牛肉麵, and Gua Bao. They also serve alcohol and boba. It is one of the few Taiwanese restaurants in SF and is a decent option if you're craving Taiwanese food, but it's not the most authentic. The ground pork over rice was a little bland. Prices are normal for sf, not expensive but also not cheap.

Hodala in Richmond, San Francisco offers authentic Taiwanese cuisine with a more modern feel than "Taiwan Restaurant". The menu features a range of fantastic and authentic options, with fairly large portions that will leave you feeling satisfied. The Gua Bao came out looking spectacular and was just as delicious. Fluffy steamed bun, tender, succulent slices of pork belly, ultimate combination of flavors. Another dish worth trying is the crispy pork chop over rice, which is priced at an affordable $10.95. The pork chop is cooked to perfection with a crispiest skin. The beef noodle soup, didn't have the greatest tasting broth, but was still a tasty option with high-quality noodles and beef. The menu is filled with so many affordable choices like the grounded pork over rice, priced at just $8.95. This is a must try place if you love Taiwanese food!

The layout and decorations were so cute! Great place to eat and catch up with friends or a date spot. we only came for dessert and made our own shaved ice. The toppings were delicious. Specifically, the mangoes were really chewy and flavorful. I recommend getting grass jelly and Boba as well in the shaved ice. I did hope that the shaved ice was a little bit softer, almost like snow ice, but it was literally pieces of ice that were cut up. besides that it was a great dessert! The service was great as well. The waiter was really kind and really quick.

I don't think there's too many Taiwanese restaurants in the city, which is a damn shame. The only other place I've frequented in recent years is the Shilin place in the Stonestown food court. I found that place only ok, so this is where I go when I want some Taiwanese food and don't want to drive down to Liang's Kitchen in Cupertino. I've been coming here about once every few months for maybe 7 years now. It's probably my favorite Taiwanese place in the city, and it reminds me of my childhood in Taiwan and all the good food there. The flavors are not all the way there, but it's close enough to satisfy the occasional craving (so maybe more 4.5 stars). I always and only get the fried pork chop rice dish. Sometimes it's a bit too fried, but if you give them a heads up before hand, they should get it just right. And when it's done right, it's excellent!!! I love the veggie, bamboo shoot, and pork belly bits included. Everything complements so well! I also appreciate the snacks and drinks they have. It's a solid Taiwanese option when you want more than boba or desserts, and the prices are very fair.
